For our last full day in Sydney, we started off by walking across the Sydney Harbour Bridge. There is a “bridge climb” where you climb the arch of the bridge, strapped in a harness – but at $180 a person, we decided the free walk via the bridge’s pedestrian walkway would suit us just fine. We started at The Rocks (Sydney Harbour side) and crossed over the bridge to Milsons Point. From the bridge, there are sweeping views of Sydney Harbour.
At Milsons Point, there are nice views of both the bridge and Sydney Harbour.
From Milsons Point, we took a ferry to Watsons Bay, to resume the Coastal Walk from where we ended the day before.
The next section of the Coastal Walk would take us from Watsons Bay to Clovelly – just under 9 miles. The scenery on this section was even more spectacular than the day before.
After a few hours, we reached Bondi Beach. We took a break there and ate our picnic lunch while we watched the waves roll in.
We really enjoyed our time on Sydney’s Great Coastal Walk. If we had more time in Australia, we definitely would have attempted more of it. What made our walk even more enjoyable was the outstanding weather we experienced. It was sunny with clear, blue skies and a cool breeze coming off the ocean. We couldn’t have asked for better conditions.
After ending our coastal walk in Clovelly, we took a bus back to the city and explored Surry Hills. We had heard it was a nice little artsy community with good wine bars and restaurants. Although we walked passed a number of nice places, we ended up seeing a little Middle Eastern restaurant that we just couldn’t resist. After dinner, we decided to turn in early. It would be the last night on this journey where we would have a real bed, our own bathroom, and a TV. Because the following morning, we would fly to Auckland, and spend the next five weeks exploring New Zealand via campervan.
Really enjoyed the beautiful coastline photos. What glorious weather you were blessed with for your stopover too! And, you got to dip your toes in the water along another continent in the Southern Hemisphere. Have you been using the GoPro camera much?
The coastal walk was so nice, all around. Yes, we have been using the GoPro – both for pictures and for videos. I haven’t posted a lot of the video footage, due to limited internet access…but plan to edit everything into a summary video after we get back.
Yes, those coastline shots were stunningly beautiful! Postcard worthy! The color of the water is so pretty too!
Just got around to taking the “coastline” hike with you. Spectacular all the way and I see you found some “steps” again. haha All the scenery is wonderful. Lv. Grandma
